Waves of Geography's Spatial Approach

Abstract

This paper represents a short overwiew about the evolution of the space concept both in philosophy and geography. I have identified a few crucial moments in this evolution, represented by the míssínterpretation of relative space conceptions (especially Leibniz and Kant) by Wolff and Hettner, which has been conducted to the dominant position of absolut space concepts until recent. The overpresence of the absolut space conception was deconstructed by recent evolutions, especially by the social theory based critical geography and by the "new geographies" (modern cultural geography and modern regional geography). In the latest sense the space became relative and constructed from different social and political institutions.
